My construction experience started long before I could even walk!
When I was born here in Charleston, South Carolina, my grandfather owned and operated a mobile home park with 65 lots. In this photograph, I'm just one year old, sitting on a roof while my grandfather makes repairs. He positioned me against the roof vent to keep me from rolling off!
Growing up, I was always by my grandfather's side, learning how to fix, repair, and build things. By the time I was seven years old, I thought every kid knew how to replace a toilet, change an electrical outlet, and make household repairs. I eventually discovered that wasn't the case!
Those early experiences taught me something that has stayed with me my entire life: If you're going to do something, do it right the first time.
I later followed in my grandfather's footsteps by serving in the United States Navy, where I learned the importance of discipline, responsibility, and attention to detail.
Today, I bring those same values to every project we undertake through Carlton Custom Homes, Golden Property Renovations, and Hurry Up Handyman.
I named Golden Property Renovations after something I believe in deeply: The Golden Rule — Treat others as you would want to be treated.
That principle is the foundation of how we do business.
Whether we're building a custom home, completing a major renovation, or handling a small household repair, I treat every customer's home as if it were my own.
